Welcome To Edgewater High School!

Eagle families, we are finished with Quarter 1 of the 2021-22 school year.  I can hardly believe that 25% of our year is behind us and before we know it the holidays will be right in front of us!  We have accomplished so much in this first nine weeks of school.  Several seniors have met graduation testing requirements and there is another opportunity this week for sophomores, juniors and seniors to earn a concordant score.  This Wednesday, October 13th, we will have a regular length school day (dismissal at 2:20) to accommodate the school day PSAT NMSQT and SAT tests.  The 10th and 11th grade students can meet their math requirement through PSAT and the seniors can earn math and/or reading through SAT.  Sophomores and juniors can also qualify for national merit scholar status through the PSAT NMSQT (National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test), so we want to make sure to get a good night’s rest and eat a high protein breakfast.  Look for an email from Mr. Tomcykoski, our testing coordinator, with instructions.

Also coming from Mr. T will be an email about Open House, which is taking place virtually on Tuesday, October 12th from 5:30 to 7:00.  Parents and students will follow a schedule to join teachers through their classroom link (provided in the email) for a brief overview of the course.

This Friday, October 15th, we will be hosting two special events.  Your Theatre Department will open their show “Chicago” at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium.  Forty five of our students have put their time, energy and best effort into making this production a success with our fabulous teacher, Mrs. Hawkins.  Additional shows will be held on Saturday, October 16th at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm with a finale to wrap the event on Sunday, October 17th at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are on sale at  Click on Buy Tickets at the top and find the tile for Edgewater/Chicago.  Cost of tickets is $5 for students, $12 for adults or $20 for a special VIP cabaret seat.  Tickets will be on sale for students during lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for $5 cash.  Watch social media for more details as we get closer.

Also on Friday, October 15th, your fighting Eagles will host the Wekiva High School Mustangs for what will be an exciting game after we beat the Winter Park Wildcats on Thursday in a 41-35 heart pounder.  This will be senior night for Football players, band members, cheerleaders and student athletic trainers.  Tickets are available for the game at for $7 online with parking for $5 cash and cash concessions.  Tickets may be purchased with credit or debit card only at the gate for $9.

Monday starts Quarter 2 and I hope all students will reflect on their successes from Quarter 1 to keep that momentum, while also thinking about what adjustments need to be made.  Teachers have been working very hard to provide structure, routines and high quality instruction.  Students are developing or continuing the habits that will determine success in high school and beyond.  I am a big believer that how we do things every day determines our outcomes.  Join me as we continue to build that solid ground for our students to grow.

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” -John C. Maxwell

Have a great week, Eagles and remember to fly above the storms!
