The Revolutionists is an irreverent, hilarious, and ultimately moving comedy set during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror in 1793 Paris.

The play brings together four extraordinary, real and imagined, women who find themselves hanging out, losing their heads (literally and figuratively), and trying to influence the course of the revolution for the better:

Olympe de Gouges: A brilliant feminist playwright desperate to write a piece of revolutionary art for her generation.
Charlotte Corday: A young assassin with a singular purpose: to murder the extremist Jean-Paul Marat.
Marie Antoinette: The former Queen of France, who is mostly concerned with her ribbons and her legacy.
Marianne Angelle: A fierce, composite character representing Haitian rebels fighting for freedom and abolition in the French Caribbean.
As the political climate sinks into hyper-violent, hypocritical male rhetoric, these women conspire, debate, and argue about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, and how they can truly change the world. It’s a raucous, dream-tweaked comedy about sisterhood and sacrifice, proving that even as the guillotine looms, they will not be silenced.
