Celebrate Literacy Week 2026 (January 26 - January 30, 2026)
The 2026 Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! theme is Read, White and Blue: Celebrating 250 Chapters of America. With this theme in mind, we are encouraging students to read books about the history of the United States to deepen their knowledge and support the celebration of the Nation’s founding.
Edgewater Students and Staff - we will be participating in Florida's Celebrate Literacy Week* this year with a variety of activities!
All week - Let's Read, OCPS! (District Reading Challenge - runs through April 30.)
All week - Read, White and Blue: Celebrating 250 Chapters of America - check out historical fiction and receive a sweet treat!
Monday - Blind Date With a Book (Looking for your next favorite book? Let fate decide! Grab a wrapped book with clues and see where the story takes you.)
Tuesday - Hawaiian Shirt Day (to celebrate our 50th state - post your pictures on our Padlet!)
Wednesday - Poetry Slam in the Media Center (Show us your rhyming skills with this poetry slam in the media center during lunches (or maybe in the evening). Write your own, or find a poem/rhyme. See Mrs. La Sala for questions or ideas.) Sign up today!
Thursday - Read My Shirt (Students and staff wear shirts with words, quotes, or book titles printed on them. - must be school appropriate. Share your pictures on our Padlet!)
Friday
- Wear Red, White, and Blue (to celebrate 250 chapters in America)
- Duck Hunt in the Library (Any student participating in the Padlets during the week, will get their name in a drawing for a mini duck hunt in the media center during lunches)
