Media Center

Sora is a new option for students and teachers to access free eBooks and audiobooks and includes over 100 titles in Spanish. The Sora app is located in the Library Research Tools folder on Launchpad. Sora supplements the district’s Destiny Discover eBook collection and offers a dynamic rotation of titles for all grades and reading levels for both school assignments and pleasure reading.

Sora titles in the OCPS collection are simultaneous use, so every student in the district can have access to the same book at the same time. The titles and length of availability is determined by participating publishers and Sora.

Sora also links with the Orange County Library System and the Virtual Library Card (VLC) which gives students and teachers access to thousands of OCLS titles. OCLS titles are not simultaneous use, but holds for popular titles can be made through the Sora app. (Spanish Version)

The content classification of the titles is set by publishers. Content access levels within Sora are set to allow the following:

🧒🏽 K-6 Students: Juvenile literature titles

🧑🏾🎓 7-12 Students: Young adult titles

🍎 Staff: Juvenile literature titles, young adult literature titles, and adult titles

Virtual Library Card (VLC)

Did you know that every student and teacher in OCPS has their own Virtual Library Card? This program was initiated to ensure everyone can access library resources and services, even if there are circumstances that would make it difficult for them to get a card.
